Helen Lloyd - (Audiobook Narrator & Narrator Coach)
In a career spanning more than fifty years, in the competitive worlds of acting and television production, I have learned a lot about the importance of being well grounded and realistic about the world we all work in. When I first began working in audiobooks, I recorded one book in a studio, and since then, all but four of the 150 books I've narrated, have been recorded solo in my personal studio, so I am well used to working alone. I live in Derbyshire, a long way from the hustle and bustle of London studios, and in an area where there are few other performers. I have lived alone since the death of my husband, so am increasingly aware of the impact that working in isolation can have on mental health, how hard it is to stay motivated, now to keep a healthy life/work balance and how not to allow imposter syndrome and rabbit holes of endless retakes. I work hard to mitigate the damaging effects of isolation an a busy schedule - and feel I have a lot to offer to this presentation.
