Surveys

The APA sponsors an annual Sales Survey that tracks current sales trends in the market, and Consumer Survey, which explores who's listening, how they listen, and preference of audiobooks vs other forms of entertainment. These members-only reports are valuable resources to understand industry trends and aid in strategic decision-making.


Promotional Opportunities

Because it's so important to keep audiobooks in the public eye, the APA takes consumer awareness very seriously and has several dedicated campaigns throughout the year to help promote audiobook listening. Many times, we call upon our members to help us provide materials for these campaigns, allowing them to promote their own products in our effort to raise consumer awareness.


The Audies Competition & Awards Gala

Every year the APA honors the best titles in audio publishing at an awards gala. Awards are bestowed in a range of categories, including the coveted Audiobook of the Year which recognizes excellence in production combined with strong sales and marketing. Rights holders submit their titles to this competition each summer.


Speed Dating

An opportunity for narrators to meet quickly with casting producers. APA member narrators submit a demo and enter a lottery to be one of the narrators selected to meet one-on-one with member director/producers.

Webinars & Educational Events

Throughout the year the APA holds educational webinars to help our members succeed and learn best practices for everything from social media interaction to combating piracy. We try to make sure we're covering information that's relevant to our members of all levels, and encourage our members to contact us about topics they'd like to see presented.

In addition to APA’s online membership directory, which allows industry professionals to find their peers and make connections, the APA holds member socials frequently during the year to allow members of all levels to connect, network, and just chat about the industry in a relaxed environment. The APA Conference (APAC)

The APA's annual conference is the premiere event for audiobook professionals. APAC, which is traditionally held in conjunction with Book Expo, gives attendees the opportunity to share ideas and gather solutions from fellow colleagues, as well as learn from experts on topics and issues pertinent to the industry.


Meet the Producers

Usually offered in conjunction with the Audio Publishers Association Conference (APAC), this session connects member narrators with producers to read a short piece, get immediate performance notes, and potentially connect for casting.


Monthly E-Newsletter

Distributed monthly via e-mail, the newsletter details APA’s current activities and promotions and contains a news roundup, which brings members up to speed on where audiobooks are seen in the press.
